
Stuart Brown has been based in Perth, Western Australia for 20 years and previously in the UK. He has a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Loughborough University and is a member of the IET with CEng.
Stuart has over 30 years post‐graduate experience in Instrument/Electrical Engineering maintenance, development, and project activities in the Oil and Chemical industry.
Over that time he has developed a track record of drive to develop existing assets to improve personnel and process safety, meet process requirements, reduce costs, and improve reliability.
While his experience is primarily with Oil and Chemicals, enquiries are welcome from any industry or not-for-profit that could benefit from his skills. Rates can be negotiated.
Recent Projects
- Chair of investigation into transformer cable termination box failure that resulted in complete shutdown of major oil and gas facility.
- Technical investigation into battery explosion at oil and gas facility using RCA (logic tree) process.
- Chair of electrical “HAZOP” (hazard and operability study) for new biofuel production plant electrical distribution system from 132kV grid connection through to battery-backed supplies.
- Electrical technical support to project manager of West Australian green hydrogen start-up project relating to main power supply to hydrolyser blocks from grid supplier.
- Revision of internal electrical engineering standards and purchase specifications for multinational energy company. Subject areas of power transformers, switchgear, and electrical equipment in hazardous (classified) areas. The original documents were up to 9 years old. They required substantial re-writing and updating to align with current industry standards, incorporate the company learnings, and meet modern requirements for clarity and database format.
- Business development for leading UK-based global supplier of specialised electrical test equipment and associated services. The aim of this project was to develop the clients presence, contacts and potential sales opportunities in the Australian oil and gas sector.
- Electrical technical support to start-up Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure project in Australia and New Zealand. Providing technical advice to project manager, interviewing candidates to build the local team, interface to central global technical team and resolving technical queries.

- Electrical Technical Authority for downstream business of O&G major.
